The BMW 3 Series was the used car most in demand in 2014, according to research carried out by Auto Trader.
The premium brand beat the Volkswagen Golf into second place, ahead of the Ford Focus, the number two best-selling new car in the UK.
BMW also featured in the top five with the 5 Series, the fourth most searched car on Auto Trader.
And in fifth slot was the UK’s top selling new car the Ford Fiesta.
Premium brand Audi entered the fray in sixth and seventh slot with the A4 and A3 models.
The final three places were taken by the Vauxhall Astra, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Vauxhall Corsa.
Separately, in terms of brands, the latest data available for December 2014 sees BMW in the number one slot.
It was followed by Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Ford, Vauxhall, Land Rover, Toyota, Nissan and Honda.
