Lookers opens £3.5m approved used car centre in Glasgow

Lookers has opened a new £3.5m Audi Approved and aftersales centre in Hamilton, Glasgow. The 6.5-acre site can display 120 Audi approved used cars and has storage facilities for an additional 450 vehicles. It is one of the largest approved centres in Europe. The service centre has 10 bays and there are immediate plans to double this capacity.

Formerly-known as Lomond Audi, Lookers bought the Glasgow-based group in 2012. Lookers Audi is investing £6.5m in its facilities and staff across Scotland, which includes a full upgrade and extension of its Stirling base following the purchase of a neighbouring 1.5-acre site.

An additional 1.5 acres has also been acquired which will be used to extend and enhance the Edinburgh Audi facility. The Hamilton event was attended by the senior leadership team from Audi UK, led by André Konsbruck as well as the senior management team from Lookers, including chief executive Andy Bruce, managing director Nigel McMinn and Steve Dean, managing director at Lookers Audi.

Derek Lyon, Lookers Audi head of business for Hamilton, said: “We are very excited to be opening this new, first-class, industry-leading showroom to fulfil the needs and wishes of our loyal Audi customers, and potential owners of our new and used cars, from Lanarkshire and the surrounding areas. “We have completely transformed this site, which had unfortunately been lying unused for years, and we are proud to say that we are pioneering the concept of an environmentally-friendly car showroom in the UK,” he said.
