A record number of bookings have been made through epyx’s short term hire platform so far in 2017.
To the end of May, the number of car and van rentals processed through 1link Hire Networkare up 8% on the previous year.
Much of the growth has been driven by new signings. During the last 12 months, a dozen new rental companies have adopted the platform plus five major customers such as leasing and fleet management companies.

“In theepyx portfolio, it does tend to get overshadowed by the success of 1link Service Network, but it is a vital part of the UK’s short term hire sector.
“Over the last couple of years, we have put a lot of effort into upgrading the capabilities of the platform, including enhancing the online booking capabilities for customers, to drive higher rental numbers. As a result, we have seen growth in business for existing suppliers and have attracted many new ones.
“All of this is starting to have a very definite effect, as you can see from our year-to-date figures. For an e-commerce platform that has been around for more than a decade to deliver these kinds of results is very impressive indeed.”
Tim added that more rapid adoption of new technology and ideas into the platform had also been a driver of increased usage.
“One of the areas where our owner Fleetcor has invested heavily inepyx has been in increasing our ability to produce new revisions and enhancements to the platform through improved resources.
“So far this year, we have introduced five new revisions to 1link Hire Network, which is much higher than in any previous year.
“We are responding much more quickly to changing customer needs and ideas, which simply means the platform gets used more.”
