Aston Barclay plc relaunches website as first stage of significant IT investment programme

Vehicle remarketing group relaunches website as hub for all online routes to market for customers

  • New website represents the first stage of significant IT investment throughout 2016
  • Aston Barclay LIVE online bidding portal, vehicle search facilities and mobile friendly platforms have been revamped and improved for an enhanced customer experience

The first phase of Aston Barclay plc’s substantial investment throughout 2016 in its IT infrastructure and online systems has been completed, enhancing its offering for both buyers and sellers.

The vehicle remarketing group has streamlined its overall online package, with a new, refreshed and redesigned website acting as the central gateway for its online routes to market, with a single log-in for all services making data easier to access.

With more data and vehicle information becoming increasingly accessible online for buyers, such as hi-resolution images, new and updated servers can comfortably handle simultaneous downloading of data-heavy information. This allows all Aston Barclay services to operate seamlessly, especially when handling high levels of traffic, minimising downtime for customers.

Aston Barclay LIVE – where members of the motor trade can bid on vehicles online – has also been heavily enhanced, thanks to the updated servers. Buyers and sellers can continue to bid using the service at all times, even in the unlikely event of disruption to IT systems.

This allows customers to enjoy seamless and uninterrupted bidding, even if they can’t make it to the sale, from anywhere in the world, bidding in real-time from their desktop or laptop, or via proxy bids and Bid & Buy Now through a tablet or mobile phone.

The vehicle search facility has been completely redesigned, with larger images enabling users to better inspect the vehicles they are searching for, through a new, intuitive system that searches based on a myriad of parameters and vehicle keywords.

The website provides an all-in-one hub for key services, such as vehicle appraisals, reports and the IMS reporting portal, giving all customers total oversight and transparency of auction activity across Aston Barclay’s auction centres. Every element of Aston Barclay’s online services is flexible and can be tailored to the varied needs of its client base.

With nearly half of all website traffic coming from mobile devices in 2015 following consistent annual growth, Aston Barclay’s new site is fully optimised for both desktop and mobile devices, providing seamless navigation of the refreshed site, either directly or via Aston Barclay’s Twitter and LinkedIn channels.

The growth and influence of these channels has allowed customers to solely use social media to access the latest sale information, news and best practice from Aston Barclay from their phone or tablet. Allied to the website, Aston Barclay provides a true, integrated communications package for its customers.

Glenn Scarborough, Managing Director of Aston Barclay plc, said: “This is just the first step in significantly upgrading our IT infrastructure over the coming year. Our aim is to ensure all of our services continue to run seamlessly, complement activity on the auction floor and help to provide the unique and flexible service that has seen us become one of the UK’s leading remarketing providers.”
