Network Q dealers to offer RAC history checks

Network Q has become the first major signing for the RAC’s newly launched Car Passport used car history check service.

The service was launched last month in a direct challenge to HPI and aims to take a market leadership position within three years. The link-up, which went live last week, will see Car Passport co-branded by both the RAC and Network Q

RAC Car Passport will be available to over 350 Vauxhall dealers who are part of the brand’s approved used car scheme, although individual dealers will be able to choose whether to use the RAC service or stay with their current provider.

“Network Q is a perfect fit for us as we already provide all their breakdown cover. We’ve presented the case for RAC Passport to Network Q and as dealers move out of existing contracts they’re coming over to us,” said Robert Diamond, managing director of RAC Motoring Services.

“Every one of the Network Q dealers can now do an RAC Passport history check which is co-branded with both logos.”

Diamond confirmed that the RAC is talking to other manufacturers about offering its service as part of their approved used car services as well as franchised and independent dealers advertising their stock on the RAC Cars website. All dealers accredited to the RAC’s approved network have also been offered the service.

“We’re talking to all of them [manufacturers] and dealers who are feeding stock into RAC Cars. There’s about 7,000 dealers who either supply RAC Cars or are part of our approved network.”

“RAC Car Passport for dealers marks a departure. It uses exactly the same data sources as other provenance checks and is effectively identical in specification but offers a much lower cost and the high level of credibility of the RAC name,” he said.
