Manheim to grow wewantanycar volumes in 2015

Manheim is gearing up to expand the wewantany car business in 2015, growing the number of cars sold through its auctions from this channel by 50% to 30,000 units a year.

Earlier that year rival BCA had bought the market leading webuyanycar to boost its auction volumes.

“Wewantanycar contributed about 20,000 cars to our auctions in 2014. We will probably grow this by 50% to 30,000. It is another customer segment for us,” Manheim UK chief executive Michael Buxton told Motor Trader.

Buxton (pictured) was appointed to the CEO slot at Manheim in late 2014. He said the biggest tasks facing Manheim in the UK was to keep ahead in IT developments and fast moving digital channels.

“The biggest challenge is to make sure our infrastructure and IT systems are modernised all the time. Transforming our online business is important because more of our customers want to got digital

“Manheim has data across all of its businesses an what we have to do is get that data out the systems so we can really start to mine it and understand that data,” he said

“Our online sales channels represent one in three car sold today. Even if you look at January and February this year compared to last year our online sales are up 34% year on year,” he added.
